This case is going through the Courts at the moment, and is interesting as it is the first of its kind in the UK. It involves a disgruntled junior auditor working for a firm auditing Morrisons supermarkets, who leaked 100,000 of Morrisons' employees' personal data online. The group action is a claim for compensation by a large number of the affected employees. The Morrisons' QC's quote below appears quite compelling, but this one is an interesting case to follow in order to see what the impact will be of any judgement against Morrisons, and the safeguards which may result when a firm is being audited, in terms of access to personal data.
