The Centre for Health and the Public Interest (CHPI), an independent public-interest think-tank on health and social care policy, has recently released a report on the care home industry.

The report identifies where each pound that goes into the care home industry ends up by using a forensic study of the accounts of over 830 adult care home companies.

As reported in the article below, the research has found "significant levels of leakage of money from front-line care".

More and more people continue to need care and support, and the current system is not sustainable. £1.5bn is a huge amount of money to be lost from the front line of direct care.
