The rectification department at Lloyds is going to have its work cut out trying to reunite 9,000 wills and 190,000 envelopes of other valuable papers to the representatives of deceased customers.

There is a risk that in a number of cases, estates may have been distributed to the wrong beneficiaries.  

Storing wills with solicitors, or registering the existence of the documents, is much more sensible than placing them in bank safety deposit boxes.
