We have now received updated information for charitable companies and CIOs on new laws affecting members’ meetings and insolvency. These provisions are set out in the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 and came into effect on 26 June.

The Charity Commission has updated its guidance for the charity sector, in particular, in relation to postponing or cancelling annual general meetings. 

There is also additional flexibility in relation to filing requirements at the Companies Registry, which is covered in the legislation recently enacted. This has been long-awaited and is very welcome.
