From November 2020, HMCTS has required all professional probate practitioners to use an online probate application system. Various teething problems have resulted in practitioners finding the system, at best, time-consuming and difficult to navigate, and at worst, impossible to access or complete, causing delays in applications being processed.
HMCTS do operate a support system which has helped to resolve a number of login issues that we have experienced, and it is good to see that HMCTS are taking on board feedback from the legal community.
We look forward to further developments to streamline a system that should ultimately be far more efficient than the previous system, once the glitches are resolved.
STEP has been engaging with HMCTS on a number of issues raised by members over the online probate system and delays, and HMCTS has now announced a number of updates to address these concerns
