I reported previously on the introduction of no fault divorce, which we all anticipated would have been introduced in October 2021.
It would take the heat out of many situations where the parties are faced with having to give a reason to support the divorce petition, and run the risk that proceedings start with a ‘raised temperature’.
We now know that ‘no fault divorce’ will be introduced on 6 April 2022, and the delay is to allow necessary IT changes to the Court’s online divorce system.
The Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020 must be put back. The Ministry of Justice is now working on a commencement date of 6 April 2022.
